These terms are between you and the operator of Mental Health Tools. Using the site means you agree to them. Headset sessions also ask you to confirm that before the headset connects.
You must be at least 18 and able to agree to a contract. The site is not for anyone younger. We do not knowingly keep assessment or headset data from people under 18. If we learn a save belongs to someone under 18, it should be deleted from the account.
Mental Health Tools is a place to fill self-assessments, save them, and sometimes invite another person to fill a labeled copy. A signed-in guide can send fill links and read completed results for people they enroll. Two headset pages, Heart rhythm and Signal field, read a compatible Muse headset and can save a session summary to your account.
Screens include Neurospice, PHQ-9, GAD-7, DASS-21, WHO-5, PCL-5, AUDIT-C, and an original Couples lens. They are questionnaires and wellness readings. They are not diagnoses.
The site is a general wellness and self-reflection tool. It is not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease or condition. It has not been evaluated or cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Heart rhythm and Signal field use paced breathing. Signal field can also play tones, including a 6 Hz headphone beat. Those are usually comfortable and are not right for everyone.
Talk with a physician before you use them if you have a history of seizures or epilepsy; a heart, blood-pressure, or breathing condition; pregnancy; fainting, dizziness, or dissociation; a serious psychiatric condition; or anything else that breath pacing or rhythmic sound could affect.
Stop if you feel dizzy, faint, short of breath, distressed, or unwell. Do not use the headset pages while driving or operating machinery. You choose to use these sessions and accept the risks that come with breath pacing, audio, and a consumer headset, to the extent the law allows.
A guide is a therapist, coach, or other person using their own account. They are not our employee, agent, or partner, and we are not theirs. We do not control their advice, pricing, scope of practice, or sessions. Payment between you and a guide, if any, is between you and that guide. This site does not charge you to fill an instrument.
Headset instruments are not sent through Guide. A guide does not receive Heart rhythm or Signal field recordings.
If you stop working with a guide, we do not move you to another one. Fills they already received stay on their account. Your own account and your own saves stay yours. Money, refunds, and appointments stay between you and that guide. This site does not sell sessions.
Give a real email for the magic link, and keep that inbox yours. Use the site to fill instruments, save your own results, or, if you are a guide, to send links. Do not scrape it, break it, interfere with it, resell it, or open someone else’s data. Do not use it to break the law or someone else’s rights. You can keep using instruments without an account; those copies stay in this browser or in a file you download.
You can stop any time. Signed in, Account is where you delete a cloud save. There is no separate request desk. What is stored, and how deletion works, is in the privacy policy.
You may use Mental Health Tools as it is offered here. You may not reverse engineer it, decompile it, or take it apart to see how it works. You may not copy, reproduce, or duplicate the site, or build another product from it. That covers the code, the layout, and the original instruments and sessions, including Neurospice, Couples lens, Heart rhythm, and Signal field.
Filling an assessment, saving your own results, or sending an invite is the use these terms allow. It is not permission to republish the site or stand up a copy of it. We give you a personal, limited permission to use the site that way, and only while you follow these terms. We keep the rights in the site. That permission ends if you stop following these terms, or if we stop offering the site.
Some of what a headset measures is neural or physiological data. Several states treat neural data as especially sensitive. We handle it as sensitive even when a particular page stores a derived reading rather than the raw signal.
A cloud save, a sign-in, and a research opt-in are sent from your browser to Supabase over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Cloudflare delivers the pages over HTTPS. We do not run a separate server in between. A file you download, or answers you leave only in this browser, are not sent. A headset connects to this browser over Bluetooth; the derived series is sent over that same HTTPS connection only when you record while signed in. A Couples lens invite address is saved the same way, and Resend then sends the email. What is stored is described in the privacy policy.
Account data is the email used to sign in. It lives in the authentication system. It is not copied into assessment rows or research rows. Couples-lens partner addresses live only on an owner-only email outbox.
Assessment data is what you enter on a questionnaire: answers, optional notes, timing, and the scores that instrument defines. A cloud save stores that on your account. An invite fill is stored on the guide’s or inviter’s account, not as a row you can later browse, unless you claim a copy of your own self-report where the product offers that.
Headset session data on Heart rhythm and Signal field, when you record while signed in, is a derived series: heart rate, a coherence ratio, and on Signal field a once-per-second alpha and band reading plus focus markers. Recording is your consent to store that series on your account. It is not consent to upload a raw EEG waveform, and it is not a research opt-in. Those pages do not upload the raw EEG waveform. The local EEG dashboard keeps raw EEG, pulse, and motion in this browser only. It does not upload that recording. Deleting the save removes that series from your account.
Research data is separate and off unless you turn it on. If you opt in, anonymized score summaries of your own self-reports — including headset summary scores, not the time series and not invite fills — can be copied under a research ID with no email. Optional background questions are skipped unless you answer them. Turning research off deletes those contribution rows. That is a separate choice from using the site. Accepting these terms does not opt you into research.
We use the data to run the site, show you your results, let a guide see completed fills they sent, and — only if you opt in — keep those anonymized score summaries. We do not sell personal, assessment, or neural data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Other than your account, your guide’s view of fills they sent, and the research copy you opted into, data is shared with the companies that host the site and the database, when the law requires it, or if the service is transferred, under the same limits. The headset maker is not one of those recipients for data these pages store. Their own app, account, and cloud, if you use them, follow their terms at choosemuse.com/legal.
We keep cloud saves until you delete them. Research rows last until you turn research off. Local browser storage lasts until you clear it. No system is perfectly secure.
Signed in, Account lists cloud saves and can delete one. Deleting a save removes that row. If research is on, the research copy for that instrument is rebuilt from what remains, or removed if nothing remains. You can also turn research off without deleting the saves.
Muse headsets are made and supported by InteraXon, not by this site. You get and look after the headset yourself. We do not sell, ship, lease, warrant, repair, refund, or replace it. Fit, battery, Bluetooth, and accuracy are the device’s. We are not responsible for Muse’s own app, account, warranty, or cloud. Our description of data covers only what this site stores. Their terms are at choosemuse.com/legal.
The site is provided as is and as available. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, or that a score, ratio, or chart is accurate or fit for a particular purpose. Some places do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this may not apply to you.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost goodwill, whether from using the site, a score or chart, a headset session, or a guide’s use of a fill. That includes claims in contract, negligence, or otherwise.
This site does not charge you to fill an instrument. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for a claim about the site is limited to the amount you paid us for the site in the twelve months before the claim. If you paid nothing, that limit is zero.
Nothing here limits liability the law does not let us limit, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where a limit is not allowed. Some places do not allow these limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.
You will defend us and cover our losses and reasonable legal costs from a claim that comes from your misuse of the site, your breaking these terms, content you submit, or — if you are a guide — your own advice, pricing, or practice. You do not have to cover a claim caused by our fraud, or by our negligence where the law does not allow that shift.
These terms are on the site. Using the site is how you agree to them. We do not mail a paper copy. We may update them and will change the date at the top when we do. If a change affects how headset or assessment data is used, it applies going forward. Continued use after the date changes means you accept the update. Research stays off until you opt in, including after a terms update.
If one part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. A court may narrow the part that fails so the rest keeps its effect.
